As vice president of operations and deputy chief financial officer for Ohio State, Kristine Devine is focused on both daily financial operations and strategic initiatives that advance operational excellence and resource stewardship. She oversees operations including the university's budget, financial planning and analysis, the controller’s office and financial reporting, purchasing, stores, receiving, mail, payroll services, and accounts payable.
Kris has 30 years experience in the higher education industry in the areas of financial operations, accounting, auditing and financial analysis. At Ohio State, she has created a cross functional-university team to facilitate sharing of best practices and to standardize operational excellence efforts (OE@OSU) across the university.
Prior to joining the university, Kris spent 23 years at Deloitte, serving as both an audit partner and partner in charge of the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services (AERS) group in the Columbus office. She focused on clients in higher education and in the public sector while also serving clients in the real estate and insurance sectors. She also served as Deloitte’s national compliance partner for public sector. She is an expert in compliance and government accounting practices and procedures, serving two terms on the federal Advisory Council of Government Auditing Standards.
A recognized financial and operational leader on campus, Kris lends her expertise on committees including the Fraud Assessment Crime Team, the Internal Bank Committee, Athletic Council’s Finance and Facilities committee, Senate Fiscal, University Risk Management, Integrated Capital Planning Committee and The University Reaccreditation Committee.
She also serves on the boards of The Ohio State University Foundation, Science and Technology Campus Corporation (SciTech), the Fisher College of Business’s Center for Operational Excellence and Ohio State University Global Gateways LLC.
In the community, Kris has served 15 years on the board of I Know I Can, a college access program dedicated to making higher education a reality for tens of thousands of Columbus City Schools students. Past community service includes serving as treasurer of the Franklin Park Conservatory and Center of Vocational Alternatives. She has been a 40 Under 40 award recipient, Ohio Society of CPAs board member and as U.S. War College Army Executive Leadership Program participant.
